ITSO

Photographer: Yousuf Karsh

For this recreation I used my mom as my subject. It was taken in my room with the door closed and lights turned off. I used my iPhone flashlight and desk lamp as my light sources. I did my best to guide her to how the fingers should be positioned and how she should be looking, but as always, it was difficult giving direction.

Food Photography

For our presentation, we had 3 waffles, syrup, whipped cream, crumbs of brownie brittle, and a frosted sugar cookie. A white cloth was spread over a chair to use as a background. We used a ring light as our light source. It didn't look very appetizing in person because of how we arranged everything, but our lighting made it all look good.

Rep Yo Self!

Pointe shoes. A reflection of me. They are used in the most intricate forms of ballet. The kind I am drawn towards. From a distance they make the dancer look fragile and elegant. Covered in silky, smooth satin and built to perfectly shape a pointed foot, but get close enough and you will wonder how dancers make it look so easy. Hard to the touch and with the ability to create calluses, bruises, and blisters, its basically a living hell. But that doesn't last for very long. The more they are stretched, bent, and danced in, the softer they will get. With this form of art if the shoe can't provide support it's almost useless. The same goes for me. My appearance may not tell the entire story. It can be very deceiving, but requires a closer look to get the right point of view. I can only be pushed so far until I reach my breaking point. I need to be handled with care and respect to remain sane. I am a reflection of my pointe shoes

Nat Geo is Coolio

Credit: "Sunndalsøra" by Christian Nesset

This photo does a good job in showing different perspectives. There is a hectic and busy city as well as calm mountains in nature. I feel the photographer is trying to show that behind all the modern inventions and architecture there is always some form pure nature. I can tell he used a very slow shutter to capture all the rapidly-moving cars. The bright lights create a nice contrast in comparison to the neutral terrain.

Blog Recommendations

Kelsea Young

I like Kelsea's blog because of the simplicity of the pictures. It looks like she put a lot of thought and attention to every picture to make sure it is the best it can be. The blog layout is well put together and shows her personality. The picture with all the sea shells really catch my attentioKelsea Young

Karen Ruan

I recommend Karen's blog because of the creativity in the forced perspective and scariest photos. I especially enjoy her caption for her "best shot" photo. It has a clever perspective and good focal points. I also love the way she portrays her family in pictures.

Sun Print

For my sun print I used a bottle of eyedrops, dangly earrings, a hair pin, stapler, puffy stars, clips, a protractor, and a flower I cut from a piece of paper. The challenging part about this project was working fast and figuring out how to arrange the objects.

Scariest Photo

This is a picture of one of my fish's eyeball. I stayed in one spot and waited for any type of movement. I had a hard time because the lighting was never right and I it was hard to focus when they were constantly moving.

Quarter 1 Favorite

I took this photo during the JV portion of the Homecoming game. It was taken with my Canon T3i. My friend, Malina saw me with my camera and asked me to take a picture. I like the depth of field this photo has as well as the contrast. On top of that she looks really pretty and rocks that ginormous poof.

Best Shot

This picture was taken on the side of the road with my Canon T3i. The sun was at the perfect spot, so I decided to get out of the car to snap a picture. I chose it as my "best shot" because the trees create a nice silhouette, there are defined layers, the sun really stands out, and there are different values going on.
